Pinoy Pop or PPOP refers to popular contemporary music in the Philippines, origination from OPM genre. Unknown to some, the PPOP genre was introduced in as early as 1970's.
THE RISE OF THE P-POP IDOL GROUP
From the influenced of Kpop and Jpop, a new era of Pinoy Pop was born. One of the established P-pop group here in the Philippines is the SB19. SB19 is a five member Filipino boy group who debuted on 2018, consist of Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken and Justin. They are trained for three years by ShowBT Philippines, the Philippine subsidiary of ShowBT Group in Korea since 2016.
HOW SB19 PROMOTE P-POP GENRE IN THE PHILIPPINES
Their second Single Go up was released on July 19, 2019. Before this time, the group wasn't able to gain much attention because the term P-POP was not fully recognized yet in the country. But when one Filipino Kpop fan shared their practiced video of Go up on her social media account, it paved the way to finally recognized the groups talents and potential. Slowly they captured the hearts and attention of the local and even the international market.
HOW SB19 MARKET THEIR CRAFT THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA
When the group is slowly penetrating the music scene, the pandemic hits. The traditional way of promoting is through TV and Radio guesting, mall tours, concerts and other forms that require people to always feel your presence.
